A Charming Rest Stop in the Black Forest

I’ve been in the Black Forest of Germany for a few days now, and oh, how I love it!

I’m staying with dear friends in the mountain village of Bühlertal, about thirty minutes from Baden-Baden.

Tomorrow I will show you this beautiful village with its charming gardens, fruit trees, and bright red roofs, but today I will share a few photos of the gorgeous countryside around here.

On a drive home from Baden-Baden, my friends pulled off the road to a rest stop to show me this stunning view. I love the brilliant green meadow across the way and the wisps of mist just beginning to creep in as evening falls.

Isn’t this a lovely rest stop? I’d be delighted to pull off mid-trip for a stroll and picnic lunch here. The log cabin makes me smile. It would be so welcoming on a long road trip along winding mountain roads.

If I lived here I’d simply have to stop and pick armfuls of these wildflowers and brightly colored leaves to bring home with me. And I’d definitely be tempted to ditch the car for a bit and go for a ramble down that little path to see where it leads.

What is your ideal rest stop?

Rajasthan Tours - i love it. all pictures so beautiful…

bellini - I would amble down the path too. I am glad you are enjoying this new chapter in your life Krista!

Krista - Oh I hope you get to explore the eastern part of Europe one day, Kris! 🙂 I love it here. 🙂

Krista - Oh good, Andrea! I hope you have a wonderful time! I haven’t done any spa treatments – not in the budget this time – but I love sitting outside in the sunshine, going for walks, drinking lots of tea and water. That’s almost as good as a spa, right? 🙂

Krista - I’m so glad you feel that too, Andi. 🙂

Krista - Thank you, Chaya! I’d like to be in both those places too. 🙂 Sometimes all this beauty is too much to even try to take in. 🙂

Krisleighsen - It looks amazing! I’ve never been to Germany. Never been east of Paris in fact!… unless you count Hawaii but I think that just brings things full circle. LOL!

Andrea and John - Can’t wait to get to the Black Forest – we have about five days there in October…I’ve heard of Baden-Baden – are you getting in some nice spa time?

Andi Perullo - Tranquility oozes from your pics!

Chaya - The beauty is outstanding.  Your photos capture the moment.  I wish I were there up high, looking down and low, looking up.  Both must be awesome or awe-inspiring.

Krista - I quite agree, Breanne – flowing water would make it absolutely perfect! I do think there is a waterfall not too far away. 🙂

Breanne Mosher - Oh my. That is so beautiful. An ideal rest stop would involve flowing water of some kind, a grassy spot for some lunch and lots of trees and mountains. =)

Krista - I thought it was so peaceful too, BakerStreet. 🙂 I love finding unexpected places like that this. 🙂

BakerStreet - Oh! How I would love to spend some time here. So peaceful.
