Happy Things and Mini-Turkey Sage Burgers

So today I’m thinking about things that have made me happy in the last week. πŸ™‚ Like driving home from visiting my folks and catching a glimpse of their neighbors garden. I had to stop right there in the middle of the road and take a picture. Isn’t it a lovely tangle of beauty?

Having my god daughters, Jayda and Koda over for a sleepover was so much fun! Koda did my make-up, Jayda draped my collection of scarves everywhere to create her very own restaurant and I made them a blanket tent to sleep in. And of course we took lots of crazy pictures. πŸ™‚

I was also happy with these delicious mini-turkey burgers. Ground turkey had seemed like a healthy option at the grocery store but I didn’t really know what to do with once I got it home. I thought a while and finally decided on turkey burgers. I added a whole grated onion, lots of sage and ground pepper, a bit of salt and fried them up in olive oil. They are scrumptious little numbers, especially topped with a nice hot mustard and served with mashed potatoes.

What are some things that have made you happy this week?

Turkey Sage Burgers

1 pound ground turkey
1 onion, grated
1 Tbsp powdered sage
1 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
olive oil
mustard for dipping

  1. Mix all ingredients except olive oil. Form into round, flat patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in sauce pan over medium-high heat. Cook until browned on both sides and cooked through.
  3. Serve warm with good mustard.

Tuula M - What cuties! Sounds like you guys had a fun night – haven’t had a turkey burger in forever, at least that’s one thing I can get here πŸ™‚ more goodies to add to the list! xx

Anna Johnston - Nice one Krista. Love the turkey burgers. Mmmm, lets see…, its hard to pick just one thing.., Spring weather, almost every day this week has been just glorious, makes you feel like doing a happy dance or just sitting in the sun & purring πŸ™‚

Velva - Lovely god daughters. No doubt that they kept you on your toes. They are beautiful girls.

Love the turkey burgers. I never thought to put sage. I guess that makes perfect sense as we put it on our thanksgiving turkey and in our holiday stuffing.

Take care.

darci - love that garden!! i dream of having a green thumb and having a garden just like that one…which, besides having no green thumb probably won’t happen in the cold north..oh and thanks for the recipe! we eat no beef/pork so i love a new turkey recipe! πŸ™‚ trying it tomorrow! πŸ™‚

bellini - Making a super moist pumpkin cake, having coffee with friends and now heading to Seattle tomorrow:D

A Canadian Foodie - There was a pork burger the other day on a site – I filed it, and will have to check. It was a German slider that included caraway and other German flavours. I loved the idea of having it as one of three sliders on a plate… and this would be another completely different flavour to put with it. I am not filing this and on the outlook for the third.
PS – The house is clean, the sun is shining and I am so happy to be enjoying these simple things.

Tracy - Pesto risotto. Canned cranberry beans. Finally finding an oatmeal cookie recipe that I want to make. All food related happiness. Oh, and not being home for Halloween, so having to eat the miniature kit kats I bought with espresso after dinner.

RamblingTart - Thank you, Zita! I think so too. πŸ™‚

Zita - Your goddaughters are so cute!

RamblingTart - Aren’t they darling, Joanne? I just love them to bits. πŸ™‚ The turkey burgers are VERY flavorful!

Joanne - Aww your goddaughters are supremely adorable! And I love their names! So original but in a really sweet way.

Those ground turkey burgers sound like they are full of flavor. Love it.
