A Christmasy Jaunt to Brisbane

Mornin’ luvs! It is crazily chilly, windy, and dark in Queensland, Australia this week. Brrr! I heard that this is the coldest start to summery they’ve had in 51 years and I don’t doubt it. Shiver!

Today I’m packing up my little suitcase, making sure I have sweater, pashmina and umbrella to keep me warm as I head to Brisbane for a few days to visit my lovely friend Barbara (from Winos and Foodies) and her hubby Bryan. We are going to attend the annual Taste Trekkers Christmas Tour and I am SO excited!! I’ve never been on something like this and am really looking forward to learning about Russian, Greek and Italian Christmas traditions and foods, meet some other food lovers, and dig into a delicious meal made by the Taste Trekker herself, Sally. 🙂

I promise to take heaps of pictures and tell you all about it. 🙂

What Christmas traditions are you most interested in?

Lorraine @ Not Quite Nigella - Have fun Krista! And I know what you mean, it is SO cold lately isn’t it? I got back to Sydney on Saturday and was shivering! 😮

Joanne - If you think it’s cold THERE, maybe you should try coming back to the states for winter.  BRR! 😛

Have fun on your trip, love! Eat lots of good food for us!

Rosa May - I hope you are having fun there! Barbara is such a lovely person.

Cheers,

Rosa

Anonymous - Have fun at Taste Trekkers in Brisbane.

Andi Perullo - Have fun! I only spent 1 day in Brisbane and it was lovely.

Krista - It IS cold!! What strange, strange weather. Ah well, at least it feels more Christmasy to me. 🙂

Krista - Oh, good point, Joanne! 🙂 I suppose it is rather relative. Cold for you means frozen pipes and cars stuck in snow. Cold for me means I have to put a sweater and socks on. 🙂

Krista - I’m having a wonderful time, Rosa! You’re right, Barbara is such a luv. 🙂

Krista - I sure will, dear Andi! 🙂 I’ve only been to the airport before this, so I love getting to see the rest of town. 🙂 It’s so pretty by the river!!

Krista - I sure will, Linda! We leave in two hours and I can’t wait. 🙂

Anonymous - Have so much fun!!! xoxo

Lisa - It sounds like your X-Mas is going to be amazing!  I celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas, but just the material part of the latter, as in gifts and a huge meal.  My most cherished X-Mas tradition is gift exchanging Christmas Eve  with my honey..with roasted chestnuts honey baked figs and fresh winter fruits 🙂

Krista - I sure will, dear Cailin!! Wish you were here to enjoy it with me. 🙂

Krista - Oh Lisa, that sounds absolutely wonderful. 🙂 I love cozy nights like that, small, happy, lovely. 🙂

hila - take lots of photos! I want to see all the food, so I can dribble with glee at the sight of deliciousness 🙂

Krista - I took as many as I could, Hila – though it was wretchedly dark and stormy and hard to get good ones. 🙂

Andrea and John - That tour sounds awesome! Can’t wait to read all about it =)

Krista - It was SO fun, Andrea! 🙂 It was pouring rain but still so good. I loved wandering the aisles finding all sorts of little foodie treasures to take home. 🙂
